Education

Psychoanalysis offers the deepest, most comprehensive understanding of how the mind works, and psychoanalytic training provides the tools to effectively resolve problems in living and unleash human potential.  For almost fifty years, the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies has trained people from all backgrounds – mental health, the arts, literature, philosophy, education, and business, to name a few – in our licensure-qualifying program.  The comprehensive training in the theory and practice of psychoanalysis equips students to become skilled clinicians, and those who have already had training in othermental health disciplines find that psychoanalytic training sharpens their therapeutic skills and makes their work with patients more effective and rewarding. 

Graduates are prepared to treat a wide range of mental disorders, utilizing both their intellectual insight and emotional understanding.  The program includes classroom instruction and supervised practice in our on-site clinic.

CMPS is a stimulating, collaborative learning environment geared toward helping students succeed.  Personalized instruction is provided in small interactive classes and case supervisions.  Classes meet in the evening to accommodate students’ work schedules.
