AFTER LOSING HER ABILITY TO PLAY because of multiple sclerosis, a world-renowned
violinist consults a psychotherapist to deal with acute depression. Duet for One traces
the evolution of her treatment through dramatized sessions which prove to be poetic
statements about art, the use of creative expression by the artist, loss, and life and death.
Sam Schacht edited, directs and stars in this presentation. He teaches at the Stella Adler Studio of
Acting and is a producer, theatre academic, and former Dean of the Actors Studio Drama School at
the New School University. Faye Newsome, MA, licensed psychoanalyst, chair of the CMPS Board
of Trustees, and faculty member, offers her insights and leads the discussion after the performance.
